“Each year during the holiday season, between 400-600 Seafarers are stopping at our ports. They have been away from their families for months and this time of year can be the most difficult for them to be away from home.
With your help, we can provide donations of colourful scarves, socks, “wooly hats” toiletries, deck of cards, note pads and pens, and candies and chocolates. These simple items will mean a lot for these men and we know that they will be very thankful to be reminded that someone is thinking of them.”
Therrien was the architect of this initiative and with the help of the CBMU members, raised $1,700 in support of the CBMU Holiday Volunteer Day on December 5th. In addition to the funds raised at the conference, over 480 bags of gifts were packed for the ports of Hamilton, Toronto, and Oshawa. Learn more about the CBMU here.
