Kristen De Souza is a recent addition to Falvey Cargo, bringing extensive managerial and industry experience to the team. And if you want to know how to build a log cabin from scratch, just ask her—she has experience with that, too.
As manager of underwriting administration, Kristen’s job encompasses a variety of responsibilities. She manages 14 underwriting technical assistants, account executives, and administrative assistants who support the team’s underwriters. Kristen also trains new hires to the team and is in charge of updating training materials, communicating procedural changes as needed. From a technical standpoint, Kristen works with our operations team on sprints and user acceptance testing (UAT) for Falvey Cargo’s software system, and will report system issues as they arise.
“The people at Falvey are what make this company so special,” Kristen says. “Everyone has been helpful and supportive as I learn the product and system. It really is a team environment.”
Kristen has 28 years of experience in the financial and insurance industries. That experience includes 15 years focused on learning and development—more specifically, creating materials, delivering training. Her management experience includes supervisory personnel and business consultants. Kristen’s background also includes expertise with compliance. She was previously a senior compliance consultant where she oversaw a customer risk management program to evaluate risks and test controls to mitigate risks, while ensuring compliance with rules, laws, and regulations. Throughout her career, Kristen has been a successful leader. She managed an operations department with over 100 associates reporting through her and also managed business consultants working with IT on system development, issues, business requirements documents, QA, and UAT.
Kristen’s personal hobbies include photography, being active through hiking, going to the gym, boxing with friends, and Disney. She loves supporting her daughter’s interest in music and theater, as well as spending time with family and friends. Kristen and her husband hope to spend more of that free time at their log cabin in New Hampshire and look forward to using their new snowmobiles there this year.
